Building an Empire – Inquiry-Based Learning

$10.00

Building a New Empire is an Inquiry-Based Learning opportunity your students will remember for years to come! Absorbed in cooperative work as they take on professional roles and perspectives, your students will uncover the trends in growing empires and use that knowledge to construct their own strong empire. Once they have synthesized all information and come together as a task force, they will create a proposal to present to a group of investors who plan to begin settlement on a new planet. Their goal is to plan for the optimal empire for success. This unit is presented in its entirety; however, variations are included that allow for differing technological resources and time.

The world we live in today is a far cry from the world our educators knew as students. Today our world is globally connected, technologically driven, and dependent on creative problem solving and critical thinking. To keep up with the demands of the future world, our students need to be immersed in lessons that address our global, technological society as well as reinforce thinking skills that elicit positive contributions to society. Building a New Empire does just that. Immerse your students in this comprehensive unit that will allow them to explore empires around the world and ultimately develop their own empire that will withstand decline.

“Probably the most exciting way my kids have ever studied empires! Thanks!” Maria K.
