If students realize there is hope to redeem themselves if they make a mistake, then they are more willing to take a chance. Use the “Grade Booster” to allow your students to go out on a limb and take a risk.
•Grade Eraser
Like the “Grade Booster”, sometimes things just don’t go right, and that risk your student took ended up in disaster. Don’t thwart their efforts; instead, let them erase that homework grade. This helps to keep learning positive!
•Homework Extender
Children are busy. As teachers, you have goals for them, but their parents also have goals that sometimes don’t align with yours. As children are over-scheduled, a homework extender will ease the stress of trying to “do it all” because truly, children don’t want to disappoint anyone – including themselves.
•Oops, I Forgot
Like the “Homework Extender”, children are busy. Like adults, sometimes they forget. We need to allow them to forget in order to encourage them to remember. If forgetting is always negative, they will not be motivated to remember. Maintaining positive attitudes is critical to success, and allowing students that mistake here and there is essential.
