Greek & Roman Inquiry-Based Learning

$5.00

Greek and Roman Inquiry-Based Learning Prompts is a collection of 15 research prompts. Students will explore this time period through:

  •   analyzing primary and secondary source materials.
  •   proving generalizations to be true using inquiry-based learning strategies.
  •   completing a summative performative task that is intended to demonstrate their research and proof.

The 15 research prompts are tested and proven to be rigorous research opportunities that will accompany any middle or high school unit in Greece and Rome. The higher-level requirements for research and synthesis of information make it an excellent resource for teachers of gifted and talented students in earlier middle school. However, the prompts are still grade and age appropriate for high school as well.

Included in the file is a standards-based rubric to assist in grading projects and research.

These Research Prompts meet demands and are aligned to the Common Core Standards as well as the C-3 Framework for the Social Studies.

“This was awesome!” -Lisa V.

Description

“QUESTIONS AND THE DESIRE TO ANSWER THEM give life to inquiry and thus to the C3 Framework. Questions arise from students’ innate curiosity about the world and from their efforts to make sense of how that world works” (C3-Framework).

This collection provides inspiring prompts that will help students learn to develop compelling questions as well as supporting questions that will guide them to proving a statement related to history. The prompts are engaging and have been shown to heighten students’ interest in not only their topic but also in the overarching topic of Greece & Rome.

Each prompt includes:

  • a “prove” statement
  • an opportunity for students to develop compelling and supporting questions
  • a product that functions as the summative performance task
