Race Against Time – A Digital Adventure

$10.00

The world we live in today is a far cry from the world our educators knew as students. Today our world is globally connected, technologically driven, and FAST. To keep up with the demands of the future world, our students need to be immersed in lessons that address our global, technological society. The Race Against Time does just that. Immerse your students in this fast-paced race that will take them on a global trek on which they will reinforce geography skills while they try to escape from the snide villain and uncover the power of the stone of wisdom!

The questions for each section of the escape are designed to refine students’ geographic skills as they interpret maps from around the world. They will have tasks where they need to recognize migration patterns, understand the impact of desertification and natural hazards, see the struggles of the rainforest and the effect of trade on geography as well as location and trade on power. They will have a wide variety of answers to look for with the given maps. Escape sections are divided into groups of 4 tasks that must be completed successfully before moving on to the next section.

Included in you’re the The Race Against Time Unit are the following:

  • Links to the websites for the race
  • Worksheet organizer for students
  • Reproducible student packet for those not doing a digital escape

“This product was so much fun for my 8th graders. It really made them think. It’s more than your basic geography activity!” Lydia N.

Description

The Race Against Time is intended to be a complete unit, and although it is designed to be a digital adventure, it can also be completed on paper. Both options are provided in this purchase. It is a more challenging version of the original The Great Escape and makes for a good accompaniment for higher-level middle-school and high-school learners.

The Race Against Time is tightly aligned with the 6-8 C-3 Framework from the National Council for the Social Studies.

Students are on the run! Snidely, a snide villain is chasing them around the world in hopes of capturing the coveted stone of wisdom before first. If they can make it around the world in time without being caught, they will have gained the power of the stone. If not … well, let’s just say they’d better succeed!
