“Helpful way to get the kiddos to think about their work.” Jacklyn O.

Description

So often in education, students are unable to truly reflect on their learning. Most of the time, someone else is telling them what they are doing right/wrong instead of letting them determine what works for them. Every student is an individual, so developing skills for studying is an individual endeavor. Through these assessment analysis sheets, students will learn to take ownership of their learning and ultimately meet their intellectual identity by learning what works and what doesn’t work for them when they study.

An important focus in school for continued academic success is developing study skills.

Brain Research:
According to brain research, the best studying is active and happens over time. Reading is not studying, but making flash cards or quizzing a partner is. Studying everything the night before does not yield long-term success, but spaced review – studying for 15-20 minutes per night does lead to long-term learning.

Taking Ownership:
In order to understand the studying process and realize its success, students will be analyzing their studying and the effectiveness of their study techniques. By doing this, they will be able to learn effective study strategies that work for them and that will take them through high school and beyond!
