Description

Engage your students in an exciting mystery simulation based on Chris Van Allsburg’s book (The Mysteries of Harris Burdick) where YOU become the Chief of Police, and your students become first-rate detectives! Students will delve into a mystery that at first seems to have no solution, but through open-ended questioning and investigation through role-play, your students will come to a conclusion and arrest the culprit — maybe.

Every mystery is different since the students use their creativity to develop suspects, witnesses, etc. that are all supported by the evidence. This requires creativity as well as critical thinking and is sure to elicit a personal investment in the mystery. It’s exciting to see how each class you teach will take a different approach keeping each implementation fresh.

Included in this mystery simulation:
•Complete lesson plan with day by day implementation guide
•Crime scene photo
•Student investigation journal with a final police report
•Standards-Based Rubric for grading
